Party at the Patch: Party At The Patch (formerly known as the Harvest Hoedown) is this coming Saturday, Oct. 19, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. We will have a bouncy house, games for the kids, food and LOTS of fun! Make plans to come and bring your family, friends and neighbors. We will have lots of games for the kids, food and fun for everyone! We need VOLUNTEERS, so if you would like to help out, please see Heather Watkins. We also need MANY BAGS OF CANDY, so please keep this in mind while shopping. You may drop it off at the church office next week. Your help will be very much appreciated!! We hope to see you there!!
Books Giveaway: We will be having another Books/DVD/CD “Give Away” on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., and after church on Sunday, Oct. 27, sponsored by the United Methodist Women. Start getting your items together that you want to get rid of, and hold on to them until time. You can drop them off at the church beginning on Sunday, Oct. 20. This is a great time to “Marie Kondo” your bookshelves and closets. Clean out your storage. Volunteers are needed to help during the week and on the weekend. Call the church office if you are interested!
Blood Drive: The Bloodmobile from Winter Haven Hospital will be with us on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Please make plans to give a pint of life saving blood that day! Comes with Wellness Checkup, Blood Pressure, Iron Count, and Cholesterol results, and free gift with your donation. First time donors must have a photo ID.
Costume Closet: The SGA from Auburndale High School is sponsoring this event on Sat., Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. - 12 Noon in the Seekers room. The SGA (AHS)is collecting gently used Halloween costumes for the closet to benefit our local Auburndale area elementary school students. Please drop off your gently used costumes at church or the front office at Auburndale High School by Wed., Oct. 23. Then encourage families to come by on Oct. 26 and pick out a free costume for their child/children/grandchildren. They can also stop by the Books “Give Away”!
Young Adult Gathering: Calling all 18-30 year olds to a gathering EVERY Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Youth Room. Invite your friend and neighbors! We are meeting for fellowship and to talk about navigating through life. Contact Savannah Rogers, our Youth Director, or Pastor Jim for more information!!
New Small Groups: “Community Groups” are organized and meet on Tuesday evenings, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, and Thursday evenings. Sign up on the back of your Connect Card in worship if you are interested or by calling the church office.
Disciple Bible Study 1 Class: The Disciple Bible Study 1 Class started this past week with Ed Fair as leader and meets on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. in the Seekers room. Disciple 1 goes through the entire Bible in 24 weeks. The Old Testament will be studied this Fall and the New Testament segment in January. Sign up TODAY!
kidsPACK Volunteers Needed: We need several volunteers to help deliver the backpacks every Wednesday or Thursday. If you would be interested in helping out, please contact Renee Evans or call the church office. We will start “packing” for kidsPACK in November.
Donations for the Bahamas: We have several ways for you to help the relief effort for the Bahamas. 1. The first is to UMCOR for disaster relief and recovery. If you did not get a chance to donate in last weeks offering, you can still contribute! Use the Special Offering envelopes found in the lobby or write UMCOR on your check or envelope. For more information, go to www.flumc.org. 2. The second is to the Bahamas fund through our church. Mike Wnek's team has taken the third load of supplies to the Bahamas. If you would like to give, please make check to the church, and on memo line or on the envelope, write “Bahamas Supplies.” Mike & his team will use the funds for supplies. Thank you for your generosity! 3. Mission teams will be formed in the near future. 4. Pray for all involved!
No Hungry Hounds: Our church helps the Auburndale High School with a food pantry and the football team with food and snacks to eat between school and practice/games. The last month of each month, we have designated for collection of the food for that month. We are still collecting PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY . Please bring it on Sunday and put it on the table in the Sanctuary foyer area, or you may bring it to the church office anytime during the week! Your donations are very much appreciated!!
Uniform Closet Now Open: OUR UNIFORM CLOSET IS NOW OPEN - You can get information from the Closet located in the lobby, as we reach out to Lena Vista Elementary School with uniforms, socks, and shoes. Many uniforms are on sale at the various stores this month. Thank you for your contributions!
Knitting Group: If you knit, or have always wanted to learn how, here is your chance! We have a knitting group that meets every Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m. in the Conference Room. Make plans to come and bring a friend with you! At church on Sunday, look in the basket in the Sanctuary foyer and get a scarf to work on. The scarfs have been started, but need to be finished. Someone will be there to show you what to do if you have any questions.
Youth Snacks Needed!!: Our Youth group is collecting snacks for the upcoming school year such as: juice boxes, fruit snacks, individual bags of chips, individual packs of cookies, rice krispy treats, etc.. OR, you may make monetary donations to go toward the purchase of the snacks. Please put on the memo line of your check "Youth Snacks" and drop it in the offering plate on Sunday, or bring/mail it to the church office. If you would like to bring snacks, bring them to church with you on Sunday and put in their box in the foyer area in the Sanctuary, or you may bring them to the church office during the week! Your donations would be very much appreciated!!
Attention Singles!!: The “Early Birds” singles group meets every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Seekers room, then going to a restaurant to eat for lunch. The “Salt Miners” group will meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Seekers room, and then go to a restaurant of choice. So, come to and enjoy good fellowship, food, and fun!! Come to either, or both! All singles are welcome!!
Men's Bible Group: The Men’s Bible Group meets every Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m. at Chamba's Hometown Cafe in downtown Auburndale. All men are welcome for this time of sharing of Food and Word. You order and pay for your own breakfast from the menu. We discuss the Scripture readings of the day from the daily schedule. We pray, and you are on your way by 8:00 a.m. Men, come and join us!
Blessing Basket Information: The Mission Team is collecting for the Blessing Baskets. The baskets are given to families at Thanksgiving in food and household items. We are collecting: Canned Vegetables, Boxed goods, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Soap & Shampoo, AND $25 GIFT CARDS from Publix & Winn Dixie. Please check the expiration date NOT to expire in 2019. Please bring the items on Sunday and put in the basket in the Sanctuary lobby area, or drop them off in the church office during the week. Your donations help these families in need!
